The Association of Young Economists (AYE)

Aims and principles

AYE is a public organization, which strives to accelerate social-economic development, to promote economic reforms and to campaign economic knowledge/awareness in Azerbaijan. AYE is a non-governmental organization which was founded by graduates of the Azerbaijan State Economic Institute and registered as a public organization with an economic bias in 1993.

The main goals of AYE are:

• to make effective the potential power of young economists and researchers;
  
• to make objective analysis of economic processes;
  
• to assist business owners in solving their organizational, economic and legal problems.

AYE unites young specialists working in governmental and non-governmental organizations, economists, graduate and under- graduate students and business owners. AYE has not any dependence from state, public and political organizations. The activity of AYE is based on the principles of collective leadership, equality, publicity and legality, and is aimed to accelerating Azerbaijan's transition into the market economy and the democratization of the social life in the republic.

Current Activities
The Association of Young Economists:

• works in close collaboration with governmental and non- governmental organizations, international economic bodies and foreign universities:
  
• holds seminars, discussion clubs and conferences;
  
• conceptualizes and designs programs concerning the social-economic development of the republic;
  
• participates in the preparation of bills connected with economy;
• analyses current economic processes and carries out researches;
  
• campaigns economic reforms, specially market economy by the newspapers and magazines:
• makes suggestions about the ways of solving social-economic problems and presents them to the appropriate organization;
  
• holds sociological questionings and makes scientific forecasts;
• publishes books and manuals devoted to the economic issues;
• Identifies problems of young economists and tries to assist them.

Organizational structure

The leading body of the AYE is a conference convened once a year. The conference elects executive organs, a Revision Committee and a Consulting Council of the AYE. The AYE consists of organizational and analytical departments. Since 1996 AYE has been a member of the National Assembly of Youth Organizations of Azerbaijan Republic. Since 2001 AYE is a member of the Forum of the National NGOs.
AYE actively participates in the realize of many projects.
